Most people that decide to go out of town for the weekend in LA go to places like Las Vegas, Palm Springs or Mammoth some of us like to take it up a notch and head to Europe for the weekend.

Long story but there was a airfare special for about $500 rt to Frankfurt so my bf, a friend and I took advantage of it and went.

After working all day on Friday we headed to LAX around 5pm and shortly headed on United's non-stop to Frankfurt. It's about a 10.5 hour flight there and about 12 back. We landed at FRA (Frankfurt Airport) around 2pm, took the S-Bahn to the city, check in our room at the Westin Frankfurt, showered and met up at the lobby with another friend that happened to be in town.

From there we took the S-Bahn to Mainz which is about a 45 minute ride and went to the Guggemusik. It is a yearly music festival in Mainz where musicians from throughout Europe dress up and perform as they march from bar to bar. It is quite a sight with bands dressed like native Americans, pirates, and clowns and after a couple hours we were tired so we headed back to our hotel.

After a early morning 5 mile walk. My bf and I headed to the part of Frankfurt where they make appelwoi (apple wine). It is kind of like apple cider but much much better we had some lunch and headed to the Altstadt.

Much to our surprise there were probably a thousand police in riot gear for Nazi demonstration. There were more people protesting the demonstration than actual demontrators and we were witnesses to some unruley demonstrator push by police and one of the dogs took him down.

Later we met up with ANOTHER person that happened to be in town and he told us that still another person was in town for work (yeah, I have a lot of crazy friends). We headed to the Marriott at midnight to watch the Patriots play the Chargers and surprisingly there were a lot of locals that love the NFL. We went back to the hotel to watch the end of the game. Boo Patriots won!

In the morning we took our time to pack up and head to the airport for our long flight home.
